The Gospel according to the small stuff!

I spend far too much of my life waiting for the big moment.

"When work settles down..."

"When the kids are older..."

"When I've got more time..."

"When I feel closer to God..."

The trouble is, life doesn't seem to work like that.

Jesus talks about the Kingdom of God being like a mustard seed. Tiny. Easy to miss. Almost insignificant.

Which is probably why I overlook it.

I want mountain-moving faith.

Jesus starts with something you'd lose if you dropped it on the floor and maybe that's the point.

Most of us aren't living dramatic lives. We're trying to get everyone out of the house on time. We're answering emails, paying bills, mowing the lawn, wondering where the weekend disappeared and trying not to snap at the people we love most.

It doesn't feel holy.

But perhaps that's where holiness hides.

Not in the extraordinary, but in the ordinary.

A quick prayer before you start the car.

Saying sorry before your pride digs its heels in.

Reading one Bible verse instead of doom-scrolling for twenty minutes.

Giving your child your full attention for five minutes instead of half-listening while looking at your phone.

None of those will ever make the news.

But they might just make a saint.

We're far too good at dismissing the little things because they don't look like much.

Yet every marriage is built one conversation at a time.

Every family is shaped one evening at a time.

Every disciple is formed one choice at a time.

Seeds don't look impressive.

Until they do.

So maybe stop waiting for your faith to arrive fully grown.

Plant the tiny seed.

Say the small prayer.

Choose the small act of love.

Take the next small step.

Because God has always had a habit of doing extraordinary things with things the rest of us nearly walked past.
